Battlefield 3 won’t be supporting DirecX 9 (PC)
If you’re an avid PC gamer, and are wondering if your system is up to date for playing ‘Battlefield 3,’ the expected system requirements should give you a decent idea. Read on for details.
When it comes to being a gamer, you typically fall into one of two categories: either you’re primarily a console gamer, or primarily a PC gamer. And though there are a number of differences between the two groups, one area in which the two meet is the need to play catch-up. Console gamers have to shell out plenty of money whenever the big companies create the newest console, containing the latest advances in gaming technology. Likewise, PC gamers have to make upgrades to their computers whenever a particular game comes out that may require it.
With Battlefield 3 on the way, and with as many pre-orders as it has, PC gamers will probably want to do a quick check of their computers to see if everything’s up to date for the game’s release. Thankfully, a checklist of the expected requirements for your systems has surfaced for your convenience. It may not be official, but it should cover most of the needed specs.
Battlefield 3 is said to have similar requirements to its predecessor, Bad Company 2 - mainly due to the fact that it’s powered by an updated version of the Frostbite engine, Frostbite 2.0. As such, it should play much the same as Bad Company 2 did, but it should be noted that it won’t be supporting DirecX 9, so it can’t run on Windows XP.

It’s safe to say Battlefield 3will be a h0t-seller on its release, with a free copy of Dead Space 2, Early beta access, Physical Warfare Pack (Type 88 LMG with bipod, Flechette Ammo for DAO-12 Shotgun, Flash suppressor for SKS sniper rifle, Day 1 Access to the DAO-12 Shotgun), Back to Karkand Expansion Pack (Legendary Maps from Battlefield 2, Classic Battlefield 2 Weapons & Vehicles,
Unique Rewards, & Achievements/Trophies), Early Preloading, Play4free items
(807S shotgun and beret). With coming with a pre-order certainly helping there. If you’re still on the fence, you can always try the beta when it’s released.
