Darn.. Beat to the punch again! Honestly, I’m surprised more game developers have not thought about ways to “gamify” GPS apps. We saw Loopd and similar apps but they weren’t pushed hard enough.
The only problem with this sort of game is that GPS tends to kill battery life.. They may need to use a grid-based approach whereas GPS tracking is assisted via cell tower triangulation. With intermittent “pings”, you can conserve battery life and play practically around the clock.
Hmmm.. Thing is, if you are not particularly active, the zombies will get you… Imagine seeing people running away from invisible monsters. WAHAHA!!
What’s smart here is the 30-minute cap for missions. I think that’s something people can commit to, though I see 5-10 minutes being more feasible.. Work your dog walks into the routine. Smart game mechanics here.
You’re really sharing some rockin’ stuff, Nick.. hopefully, the rest of the Nips get with the program soon! ;o)
Nick, you need to follow this up with more in-depth information.. Perhaps a developer interview? I could join in too. Look at all the hits on StumbleUpon bro. LOL
People love zombies about as much as lolcatz (which is TONS, BTW). I blogged about your article too.. Great work! =oD
Lets do iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!
Got a response from Adrian Hot, CEO and Co-Founder of Six To Start. We have an interview tentatively slated for early next week. We’re trying to figure out if we’ll do it in text or text+audio format. Definitely excited!
The timing is perfect too as I’ve been looking to get back into game design again. Topics like game mechanics, gaming start-ups, and development tools will be fun to discuss from a more hardcore, underground gamer geek perspective.
Anything you guys would like to see discussed? Let us know.. And be sure to share this page through your social networking and bookmarking platforms.
w00t w00t!
Sound pretty cool. I’m downloading it on Android now to give it a try
A similar concept (GPS based game) I’ve stumbled across is Parallel Kingdoms, it might interest you.

Nice!
The name alone makes you curious. Surprised there’s not more buzz going around about these types of games. It’s an interesting sub-genre for sure!
So, tell us about Bart In A Box.. It’s awesome to meet more WordPress.com fellows! =oD
yes I saw that I’m very excited about it myself not sure which way we should go about it yet hopefully our readers let us know which way they prefer.
What an amazing idea. I normally run on a treadmill in the gym so I’d have to go find a track somewhere. I could just switch it up and hike a nearby mountain though. Nature and Zombies… murderously peaceful.
Oh ya taking it in the mountains would give it a nice setting but you can also play from your treadmill if you like
I love the idea. Anything to get me off my butt and moving with the real world. As if, zombie are the real world…
Thanks, Yomar. Another brilliant post.
You are welcome Lauri glad you liked it.
This surely makes great sense to anyone!
Thats an all round amazingly written blog post…
Could be your greatest blog I have seen!!
