Whosday: Thoughts on “Worlds in Time”

Reblogged from One Girl Geek:

With Doctor Who: Worlds in Time available to play at last, how could I resist the urge to check it out? According to the website, it’s still only in preview stages, but that shouldn’t stop other Whovians from taking a look as well. It has some fun puzzle mechanics, is set to have lots of baddies and locales from the show, and it’s Doctor Who. If that’s not enough for you, it happens to be free and browser based; you don’t even have to install anything! Still not convinced? Maybe my take on the game so far …

Found this little gem over at onegirlgeek.wordpress.com about to give it a try.

Fusion: Genesis Review

This game has been on my radar for awhile now and I am so close to using the last of my MS points for it every day. I did not write this review.  Why? Because if I were to review this game I am positive it would be VERY close to this one.

The most unfortunate thing about Fusion: Genesis is that it’s called Fusion: Genesis. I’ve had to look up the name every time someone’s asked me “What is that?” when they spotted me playing on Xbox Live. Sad, isn’t it? I keep forgetting its throwaway, generic name and nobody knows what the game actually is.

It’s a shame, because what’s-it-called is an ambitious, exciting, and atypical action/adventure game. IN SPAAAAAACE. Read the rest of this entry

Going Back to Karkand: Gulf of Oman gameplay, combat vehicles revealed

Check out this gameplay trailer from the re-imagined version of Gulf of Oman. Like in previous Back to Karkand trailers, you can see some of the new vehicles in action here. The three combat vehicles that we are bringing back from Battlefield 2 in Back to Karkand are the STOVL fighter jet, desert buggy, and one of the APC’s.

Come back later for more details on Back to Karkand. We have more videos coming your way, and more details on the new Back to Karkand weapons that you can bring back to the base game.

Again, if you pre-ordered or have the copy of Battlefield 3: Limited Edition, you are entitled to Back to Karkand at no extra charge and will be notified in-game once it is available for download and play around December 12ish. Anyone can buy it on the launch day for 1200 Microsoft Points.

Play & Win On XBox LIVE – Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Halo Anniversary

It’s not too late to take advantage of the current XBox LIVE Play & Win contests. Microsoft has two promotions going on: one for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and one for Halo Anniversary Edition.

In simple terms, download the special gamer pics to register for FREE. Then play the games online A LOT. Play lots and maybe YOU can win!

Here are the specifics:

Assassin’s Creed Revelations Play & Win On XBox LIVE – Win Turtle Beach Gear!

Play & Win Contests On XBox LIVE

The Halo Anniversary Play & Win ends December 5th so your best bet is to log 10 hours or more of online multiplayer ASAP. With Play & Win, the winners seem to be random but each hour of online gameplay is another chance to win. Let’s get busy!

What are the current Play & Win prizes, you ask?

You can win one of ten prizes of 10,000 Microsoft Points with Halo Anniversary. With Assassin’s Creed Revelations, you can win premium (read “over-priced”) Turtle Beach gear or 1600 Microsoft Points. I reckon your chances are better with Halo seeing how more people are probably going for the Turtle Beach gear.

Good luck and happy huntin’! 8)

UPDATE: Don’t forget to log onto Assassin’s Creed: Revelations before Monday, December 19th 11:59pm PDT (December 20th 2:59am EDT) to enter a chance to win one of the many prizes up for grabs (estimated value over $4000).

Battlefield 3 Back To Karkand DLC Release Date Announced

DICE has announced the Battlefield 3 ”Back To Karkand” DLC will be released on December 6 exclusively for the PlayStation 3. It will come out on the PC and Xbox 360 a week later on December 13 ( Because PS3 users never got there code for BattleField 1943). Anyone who pre-ordered the game will get it for free, but if you were a lazy gamer then you’ll have to pay $14.99 (Suckaz).

“Back To Karkand” will include classic maps from Battlefield 2 including Wake Island, Sharqi Peninsula, Gulf of Oman, and Strike at Karkand. According to DICE, they’ve taken the level of destruction to new heights with these maps, allowing huge portions of them to be razed to the ground. The DLC also comes with a few new vehicles like the VSTOL fighter jet, Desert Buggy, and an APC. 10 new weapons will be available to take back with you in to the core game.

They’re also introducing a new Assignments system with Back To Karkand. Here’s how DICE described it:

To complete the “Let it Rain” assignment players must score 20 kills with Light Machine Guns and two mortar kills. When you have met the requirements, you will unlock a new Back to Karkand weapon (with a matching set of dog tags) to use in Back to Karkand and the original Battlefield 3 maps, which will mix in server rotation. You will also unlock the next Assignment in the series, the new Creeping Death Assignment.

Finally there will be five new Trophies (Achievements too?) that you can unlock in Back To Karkand:

  • Complete Warrior (Silver): Get a kill with the following weapons in a single life: Rifle, Jet, Tank
  • Third Tour (Bronze): Get a kill with the new APC, Desert Buggy, and STOVL fighter jet
  • Gunslinger (Bronze): Get 10 kills with all B2K weapons
  • Like a Boss! (Silver): Get a kill with the skid loader
  • Jaws (Bronze): Take a swim in the pool at the Oman hotel

Are you looking forward to the first expansion pack for Battlefield 3? Leave a comment and let us know what you’re most excited for.

I’ll have more information on the 360 release closer to release date.
